The Found medical weight loss program is completely online. The program centers around your eating and exercise habits, sleep schedule, stress management, and prescription medication (when needed) to help you achieve your weight loss goals.
Find What You Need
The first step with the Found weight loss program is filling out a survey where you answer questions about your medical history, weight loss goals, and lifestyle. Based upon your answers, Found recommends a membership that will best fit your needs. Not everyone who signs up is eligible for prescription medication. So, the recommendation may be the Found Wellness option with lifestyle and nutrition support, but without medicine and doctor access.
All Found programs give you access to a health coach. This person is responsible for helping you be mindful of what you’re eating, how much and what type of exercise you’re doing, encouraging and promoting restful sleep, and helping you with stress management. Found also offers you access to a community of members to help support and encourage you.
Found has also partnered with Instacart Health. The objective is to deliver healthier food direct to your home. What this partnership means for Found members:
Nutrition Lists: Through Instacart Health, Found will provide nutrition lists customized to your unique nutrition plan—from Keto to the Mediterranean diet—to simplify your grocery shopping experience. Found’s registered dietitians have created healthy recipes and curated grocery lists to take the guesswork out of shopping and healthy meal planning.
And soon to be introduced – Care Carts: For those in recovery or on special nutrition plans, this tool allows dietitians and caretakers to create shopping lists and order deliveries for those who are unable to order or shop for themselves.
What Medications are Prescribed with Found?
The 13 medications that Found prescribes are FDA-approved, but based on our research, you will want to pay special attention to the prescriptions you are given and check with your doctor before taking it. Zonisamide and Topiramate are medications used to control seizures and Metformin is well-known as a medicine to treat diabetes – all are commonly prescribed by Found.
Found does say that they choose medication based on your biological issues as they relate to weight loss, so the prescriptions may vary. In order to be considered for a prescription, you will have to have a BMI of 30 or more, or 27 if you have certain pre-existing conditions.
Found uses a pharmacy partner called Truepill and the medication is mailed directly to your home. Your membership cost covers the medication and shipping. If you chose a plan that has access to prescriptions, make sure Found has clinicians licensed in your state. Currently, Found only has clinicians licensed in Alabama, Alaska, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.
Found claims to be the number one weight loss clinic in the United States with more than 140,000 members. Found says the average member loses 5% of their body weight in the first three months and 10% in the first six months.
Unlike Calibrate, another online medical weight loss program, the company has not released a report on its results or effectiveness, so it’s hard to know how true their claims are.
When we tested Found, we were surprised to initially be offered seizure medication for weight loss. This medication comes with serious risks so we opted for an alternative. The lack of face-to-face communication is discouraging. Found relies heavily on automated text messages and text communications with the coach. The app doesn’t seem to serve a purpose other than tracking meals, moods, and meds. In the first three months, our tester has not yet seen any noticeable weight loss.
You will find testimonials with people who are happy with the program and their weight loss. But you will also find several complaints with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) about the inability to receive prescriptions on time or at all. There are also several complaints about medications that cause side effects – sometimes severe. Representatives from Found respond to the complaints and try to rectify the situation.
We can’t overstate enough the importance of talking to your doctor before taking any medication prescribed from Found or any online medical weight loss program.
One advantage of Found is it has multiple plans that require different commitments with different costs. The price for the program is fairly average for other plans like it, although one option is as low as $50 a month.
Found RX Monthly
The Found RX Monthly plan is $149 a month. This plan doesn’t require a commitment. It gives you access to an initial consultation with a doctor or nurse practitioner, as well as future consultations. You will have the ability to receive prescription medications, a personalized nutrition and exercise plan and a personal health coach to help you develop healthy habits and reach your goals.
Found RX 3 Month Commitment
As the name implies, this program requires you to participate in the program for three months. The plan is $129 each month. It gives you access to an initial consultation with a doctor or nurse practitioner, as well as future consultations. You will have the ability to receive prescription medications, a personalized nutrition and exercise plan and a personal health coach to help you develop healthy habits and reach your goals.
Found RX 6 Month Commitment
As the name implies, this program requires you to participate in the program for six months. The plan is $129 each month. It gives you access to an initial consultation with a doctor or nurse practitioner, as well as future consultations. You will have the ability to receive prescription medications, a personalized nutrition and exercise plan and a personal health coach to help you develop healthy habits and reach your goals.
Found Wellness Monthly Commitment
The Found Wellness Monthly Commitment costs $49 a month and you’ll receive a personalized nutrition and exercise plan and access to a personal health coach to help you develop healthy habits and reach your goals. There is no calorie-counting or logging what you eat. The focus is on long-term changes to your eating and lifestyle habits. You’ll receive meal plans, recipes, workouts, and tips to help you lose weight and keep it off.
If you aren’t satisfied for any reason, Found has a 90-day, money-back guarantee. But the guarantee only applies to new members. So, if you’ve used Found before and are returning to the weight loss plan, the money-back guarantee will not be available to you.
The company was founded in 2019 and was originally branded under the name Torch Weight Loss. It’s headquartered in San Francisco and was created under the belief that ‘obesity is a disease, not a decision.’ Found wants to modernize weight loss and give everyone access to weight loss care and management.
It has a board of directors of doctors and medical advisors who are experts in weight loss and obesity medicine.
The Bottom Line
Found is an effective program for weight loss. Its multiple plan options make it easier for you to find something that works for you. It communicates through text and messaging through its app. If you prefer face-to-face communication, you may want to consider another medical weight loss program.
