Find What You Need

Calmerry Services

Calmerry does not offer a free trial, but the first thing that pops up when pulling up the site is a chance to sign up for a free webinar to give you an idea of how online therapy works and help you decide if it’s right for you.

To get started with Calmerry, you’ll have to create an account. Then, you’ll be asked a series of questions about yourself—your name, age, gender, state of residence, and relationship status. You’ll then have to answer some questions about your mental well-being and your goals for therapy. After that, you’ll have an online chat with a “mental health assistant” who will explain the plans Calmerry offers. You may be asked to choose one. You may feel pressured to make a decision, but you can always say you want to think about it and log back on another time.

If you choose to continue, you will be matched with a counselor quickly—often within an hour. You’ll be given a couple of choices and you can pick which therapist you think you’ll work best with. Calmerry attempts to try and match you with a therapist who resides in your state. That’s not always possible, so you may receive an out-of-state counselor who is licensed to practice in your state. Calmerry offers services from clinical psychologists, clinical social workers, licensed professional counselors, or marriage and family therapists. If at any time you don’t feel your counselor is a right fit, you can request a new one.

Once you’re assigned a counselor, you can get started with your therapy. The platform offers three different subscription plans. You can sign up for a text messaging only plan or one that offers video conferencing with your therapist.

You can send messages through text, audio, or video and the amount you can send is unlimited. The responses you receive back are dependent upon the therapist you are working with. Video sessions are 30 minutes each and you can either choose one a month or four a month, with an option to buy extra sessions. One small difference from many other mental health platforms is Calmerry doesn’t offer a phone call option. You have to meet with your counselor by video.

Something unique to Calmerry is its chatbot tool called “Coa.” It’s included with every subscription and it’s designed to help you track your mood and reflect on your day. What you type is stored in your online journal and you choose whether you share those things with your therapist. It’s designed to help you process emotions and identify patterns in your feelings.

Calmerry therapists are trained to help with a variety of mental health issues including:

Calmerry admits its services aren’t for everyone. It won’t treat anyone under the age of 18 or someone who is under a court order to participate in therapy. Calmerry therapists also won’t provide counseling for anyone who:

What About Calmerry Privacy?

Calmerry says its platform is HIPAA compliant and that all your personal information and data from your therapy sessions are encrypted on the company’s servers.

Like most online mental health platforms, once you are assigned a therapist, you are given a private chat room for all your messaging and video conferencing to take place.

It’s important before you begin any mental health therapy online to make sure you understand the privacy policy.

What Medications Are Prescribed by Calmerry?

Therapists who work with Calmerry can’t diagnose mental health conditions. They also will not manage or prescribe any medications.

Calmerry Customer Reviews

By and large, customers are satisfied with the services they receive from Calmerry. But since the company is only a couple of years old, online customer reviews are few and far between. It has a relatively high rating with TrustPilot, without any negative feedback. The company isn’t registered with the Better Business Bureau, so you won’t find any information on its site.
